About the event
A new environment in the Old World broadens perspective. These essays present colorful people and places encountered in Europe. The Misfits are learners on a bilingual continuum, civilians on a military base, merchant marines far from home, young people negotiating relationships, newcomers assimilating. There’s even a story about a man who had never been in his own country. The reader will identify with the Misfits and their missteps in a new culture.
During a decade spent living in Germany, Martine Robinson Beachboard was public relations manager with The University of Maryland Global Campus. In her previous career as a journalist, she won first place in column writing in an Arizona Press Club competition. She has taken top honors from Arizona Press Women multiple times and was a finalist in a Penney-Missouri Newspaper Awards competition.
