About the event

About our guest speaker: Katherine Merrill is a PhD candidate in English at Idaho State University and teaches English at Brigham Young University-Idaho. She specializes in philosophical approaches to literature and is currently working on her dissertation, “The Moral Landscapes of Jane Austen,” in which she explores the moral questions and complexities of Austen’s novels. She has a BA in Humanities and Philosophy from BYU-Idaho, an MA in English from ISU, and a postgraduate diploma in Medieval Studies from Bangor University, Wales. Her passion for learning has taken her from reciting Ancient Greek texts to philosophizing with modernists and from traipsing the ruins of Petra to meandering the English countryside.
